As per Notification 9/2025, uncoated paper and paperboard, of a kind used for writing, printing or other graphic purposes, and non-perforated punch-cards and punch tape paper, in rolls or rectangular (including square) sheets, of any size, other than paper of heading 4801 or 4803; [other than uncoated paper and paperboard for exercise book, graph book, laboratory note book and notebooks only] classified under HSN 4802 attracts 18% GST effective 22 September 2025. On an intra-state supply this is charged as 9% CGST plus 9% SGST; on an inter-state supply the full 18% is charged as IGST. This rate applies subject to the condition: other than paper of heading 4801 or 4803; other than uncoated paper and paperboard for exercise book.
